Entrepreneurship Is Also About Taking Risks, But With Strategy

Strategy & Decisions · Jun 6, 2025 · 5 min

This week I spent a lot of time thinking about what it really means to take risks when building a business.

It all started with a feasibility study we did at Sourcify. The analysis showed that one of our clients could save up to R$60,000 on their first import alone.

This episode made me reflect: why is it so hard to make certain decisions, even when the data clearly points to an opportunity?

The answer I found was simple but far from trivial: taking risks requires courage, but above all, clarity.

Entrepreneurship is a constant exercise of decision-making in uncertain environments.

It's not about being reckless. It's about having a solid strategy, with short, medium and long-term vision.

Over time, I realized that my own ability to take risks grew alongside my maturity as an entrepreneur.

More than courage, taking risks requires clarity: about where you want to go, what kind of business you're building, and which goals truly matter to you.

Entrepreneurship is this. Making decisions that hurt in the short term to build something sustainable for the future.
